Cytracom Click-To-Dial Chrome Plugin

What is the Chrome Plugin?

Cytracom's Chrome Plugin for Google's Chrome browser, allows users to initiate phone calls from phone numbers found on websites. The user will also receive notifications on their desktop regarding incoming calls.

Download the Chrome Plugin:  Here

How to Use the Chrome Plugin:

Logging In:

  • Open the plugin window by clicking on the icon in the plugins bar of the Chrome web browser
  • On the login screen, enter the email and password associated with a valid Cytracom User Account
  • Click the Login button to access the Settings Page of the Chrome Plugin

Chrome Plugin Info Panel:

User Name:

The current user's name will be displayed in the Info Panel of the Home Page. This will allow users on a shared machine to see who is currently logged into the Chrome Plugin.

Logout:

Clicking this button will log the user out of the Chrome Plugin. The plugin will then navigate back to the Login Screen, and it will return to the login panel. Once logged out, all settings configurations will be reset. For example, any excluded websites will be cleared from the filter. To avoid this, in the panel below, toggle off Click-to-Dial versus logging out of the plugin.

Configuring the Chrome Plugin:

Click-to-Dial:

By toggling this option on, users will notice phone numbers on websites will be converted into clickable links. Clicking a phone number will initiate a call on the user’s desk phone that, once answered, will connect them to the phone number that was clicked in the browser.

Passive Click-to-Dial

Passive Click-to-Dial causes phone numbers on websites preceded by "tel:", "dial:", and other tags to not be converted into clickable links. This option will limit the conversion of phone numbers to only those that are presented on a page in plain text. If the default Click-to-Dial behavior is converting too many numbers, give this option a try and refresh the page in question. This option can only be utilized when Click-to-Dial is activated.

Exclude Sites From Click-to-Dial:

By toggling this option on, users can designate any number of websites they would like excluded from the functionality of Click-to-Dial. Phone numbers on excluded websites will remain unconverted and cannot be clicked to initiate a phone call with this plugin. This option can only be utilized when Click-to-Dial is activated.

Allow Call Notifications:

By toggling this option on, users signed into Chrome with a gmail account can have incoming call notifications appear on their desktop.

Open Tab on Inbound Call:

By toggling this option on, users can designate a URL to be opened in a new tab in their browser upon receiving a call. This option can only be utilized when Allow Call Notifications is activated.

Note: Some users may have to manually open the new tab by clicking "More" on the incoming call notification.

Filter CNAM Prefix:

Users can designate common elements of incoming caller IDs to be filtered off of the CNAM when attempting to use it in a URL (see next configuration option).

For example, if all calls coming into a doctor’s office came in as “Dr. Oz - [Patient Name]”, then the user could enter “Dr. Oz - “ into the filter input field to have that removed from the caller ID for use with the Go to URL function (again, see below configuration option). This would result in a new tab being opened with the user defined URL being “www.doctoroz.com/patients/[Patient Name]”.

This option can only be utilized if Open Tab on Inbound Call is activated.

Go to URL:

Users can designate a URL, to be opened in a new tab, that will be customized by the addition of either [CALLERID-NAME] or [CALLERID-NUM] wherever these elements are entered in the URL.

For example, if a user were to input www.linkedin.com/in/[CALLERID-NAME] into the input field, then anytime they receive a call a new tab will be opened to LinkedIn.com and attempt to navigate to a profile with the name taken from the Caller ID of the incoming call.

This option works in junction with Filter CNAM Prefix so that whatever is entered into the filter will be removed from [CALLERID-NAME] or [CALLERID-NUM] before it is used in the URL.

This option can only be utilized if Open Tab on Inbound Call is Activated.

Note: Some users may have to manually open the new tab by clicking "More" on the incoming call notification.

Things to Keep in Mind:

  • Logging out of the plugin will cause all settings configurations to be reverted to their defaults. Users with highly customized settings should try to avoid logging out to prevent erasure of their settings configuration.
