Topic
This article discusses how to configure a Snom PA1 to work with Cytracom UCaaS.
Environment
- Cytracom UCaaS
- Snom PA1
Description
The Snom PA1 can be configured as a SIP paging device or multicast listener. The device must receive an IP address from the network before it can be accessed and configured through the web interface.
Procedure
Initial setup
Before you start, make sure the network is configured with DHCP.
1. Plug the Ethernet cable into the RJ45 connector labeled Port 1 PoE.
The second RJ45 connector labeled Port 2 can be used to daisy-chain additional Ethernet devices without needing another Ethernet cable.
Note: If PoE is not available, connect a Snom-approved 5 V 10 W power adapter to the power connector labeled 5V DC. The power adapter is not included and must be ordered separately.
2. Plug a speaker device into the PA1 using either speaker wire or the audio jack labeled Line Out.
3. Wait for the red LED light to stop blinking and glow steadily.
4. Once the green LED and red LED are on at the same time, the web interface is available.
5. Quickly press the IP/Reset button. The device will announce its IP address.
Note: If the red and green LEDs do not light at the same time, the network did not assign the device an IP address. Verify DHCP is enabled on the network, then try again.
Important: Do not remove the device's power supply while the red LED is on or blinking. This includes removing the Ethernet cable when using PoE, or removing the power adapter when not using PoE. A red LED indicates that a firmware update is in progress. Removing power during a firmware update can damage the firmware and make the PA1 inoperable. If this happens, the device will need to be returned to the vendor for reset.
Access the web interface
1. Once the green LED and red LED are on at the same time, quickly press the IP/Reset button.
2. The device will announce its IP address.
3. Open a web browser on the same network as the PA1.
4. Enter the device's assigned IP address in the browser.
5. Log in using the default credentials:
- Username: admin
- Password: 654
Configure SIP registration
Before you start, open the extension that will be assigned to the PA1 in Cytracom's portal, then click SIP Config under Routing & Configuration. Keep this page open so you can copy the SIP username and password.
1. In the PA1 web interface, navigate to Identity 1 from the left-hand menu.
2. Enter the SIP credentials from the extension's SIP Config page.
3. Use register.cytracom.net as the SIP registration server.
4. Apply and save the changes.
The PA1 should register after the SIP credentials are saved.
Configure auto answer
1. In the PA1 web interface, navigate to Identity 1.
2. Click the SIP Settings tab.
3. Enable Auto Answer.
4. Click Apply, then click Save.
Configure the Snom PA1 as a multicast listener
These steps apply to Snom PA1 devices and Snom phones running firmware version 8.7.5.x or 8.9.3.xx.
1. From the PA1 or Snom phone web interface, navigate to Advanced.
2. Click the SIP/RTP tab.
3. Scroll to the bottom of the page.
4. Enable Multicast Support.
5. Enter the configured multicast relay address in the IP address field.
6. Click Apply, then click Save.
