Description
What is ARIN?
Entries in ARIN's database help establish the location where the IP is used. While there are many databases for this purpose, ARIN’s database is considered the foundation of all Geolocation data.
Updating your “Service Address” for a Cloud Gateway allows Cytracom to publish this information to ARIN and numerous other Geolocation services to help ensure that websites and platforms see your IP and know what content to deliver to you. For example, news, weather, and streaming platforms rely on this information for accurate content.
Network legitimacy
A correct entry in ARIN's database shows that your organization legitimately holds its public IP addresses, which increases trust with ISPs and network peers.
Troubleshooting and security
If you experience a security issue (for example, a security breach or suspicious activity from one of your IPs), accurate ARIN records help the right teams identify and contact the correct people.
Regulatory & Contractual Compliance
Many service providers and regulatory frameworks require up-to-date IP address registrations. Inaccurate information can lead to compliance issues or penalties.
Verifying your ARIN registration
You can use a geolocation and IP lookup service such as ipgeolocation.io (external link) to verify your registration with ARIN.
