Configuring the TGP 5XX Series for use with Cytracom

Activating the Panasonic phone will allow it to communicate with Cytracom's servers.

It is necessary to configure the Panasonic phone in the event of a factory reset, or if there is a new Panasonic obtained from alternate sources that needs to be connected to Cytracom's systems.

Note: This step should only be completed if certain the phone's firmware is the latest version from Panasonic. For information on how to verify this:

  • Access the phone's main menu by pressing the square center button in between the three square buttons.
  • Select Line Status and press the square center button.
  • The number xxxxxxxx will either have a Check Mark or a Circle with a line going through it. This information is pertaining to whether or not the device is currently connected to Cytracom's servers. 

 For information on how to perform the upgrade:

  • Access the phone via the local network. Once logged in, the starting page will be Version Information.
  • Click on Maintenance, located near the top of the web page.
  • Click on Local Upgrade, located on the left side of the web page.
  • In the Local Upgrade page that appears, keep Encryption to yes, then follow the instructions below:
    • Next to File Name,  select the file that was downloaded from Panasonic.
    • Click on Upgrade Firmware.
    • Firmware will now upgrade.

The IP phone will begin the rebooting process. It is very important not to disconnect the power or LAN cable to the phone until this process is complete.

 

Configuring the phone:

  • Access the phone via the local network after enabling web access. Once logged in, the starting page will be Version Information.
  • Click on VoIP, located near the top of the web page.
  • Click on Line 1 under SIP Settings, located on the left side of the web page.
  • In the Line 1 page that appears,  follow the instructions below:
    1. Next to Phone Number, type the users CID.
    2. In Line ID Path,  enter the users SIP user-name obtainable by Cytracom Support (without the quotes).
    3. In Registrar Server Address, type register.cytracom.net
    4. In Registrar Server Port, keep the port at 5060.
    5. In Proxy Server Address, repeat step 3.
    6. In Proxy Server Port repeat step 4.
    7. In Presence Server Address, repeat step 3.
    8. In Presence Server Port, repeat step 4.
    9. In Outbound Proxy Server Address, type register.cytracom.net
    10. In Outbound Proxy Server Port, keep the port at 5060.
    11. In Service Domain, type register.cytracom.net
    12. In Source Port, keep the port at 5060.
    13. In Authentication ID, type the SIP user ID obtainable from Cytracom.
    14. In Authentication Password, type the SIP password obtainable from Cytracom.
    15. Skip down to Keep Alive Interval, and type 15 in the box.
    16. Scroll down and hit Save.

The IP phone will now be provisioned.

Note: The batteries in the handsets are rechargeable, 1.2V, and should only be replaced with similar rechargeable batteries.
