Connect your ControlOne Agent (Unity)

Overview

Sign in to ControlOne from your menu bar so you can use the ControlOne Agent on your device. This connects your local agent to your ControlOne account and finishes the sign-in flow in your browser.

Use Case: First-time setup or re-authentication of the ControlOne Agent so your device stays protected.

Who Should Use This: Users who have the ControlOne Agent installed and need to sign in.

Prerequisites

  • [ ] ControlOne Agent installed on your device (menu bar app)
  • [ ] Roles that allow agent access assigned to your account in ControlOne
  • [ ] Your account mapped to a zone in ControlOne (required for the agent to connect)
  • [ ] Valid Unity/ControlOne account (email and password)
  • [ ] Two-factor authentication (2FA) set up using TOTP—you must use an authenticator application (e.g., Google Authenticator, Microsoft Authenticator, Authy) to generate codes; ControlOne does not use SMS or email codes for 2FA
  • [ ] Default or supported browser available for the sign-in flow

How to Connect Your ControlOne Agent to Unity

Step 1: Open the ControlOne Agent from the menu bar

Click the ControlOne Agent icon in your system menu bar (macOS menu bar or Windows system tray) to open the agent and start sign-in.

Where to find it: The ControlOne Agent icon in the menu bar (top of screen on macOS, or system tray on Windows).

What you'll see: The agent window or sign-in screen opens, prompting you to sign in.

Step 2: Enter your email and click Next

Type your Unity/ControlOne account email in the email field, then click Next to continue the sign-in process.

Where to find it: The sign-in screen that opened from the ControlOne Agent.

What you'll see: The flow advances; you may be directed to continue in your browser.

Step 3: Select Continue in your browser and complete sign-in

When your browser opens, click Continue to go to the password step. Enter your password, then when prompted for two-factor authentication (2FA), open your authenticator app and enter the current TOTP code. Complete sign-in to Unity.

Where to find it: The browser window or tab that opened automatically for ControlOne/Unity sign-in.

What you'll see: Password field, then a 2FA prompt asking for a code from your authenticator app. After you enter the valid TOTP code, sign-in completes.

Step 4: Approve the prompt to open ControlOne Agent

When prompted, approve opening or returning to the ControlOne Agent so it can complete the connection.

Where to find it: The browser prompt or dialog asking to open the ControlOne Agent application.

What you'll see: The ControlOne Agent opens or comes to the foreground and is connected to your Unity account.

Expected Result

The ControlOne Agent is connected to your Unity account and you can use Unity features from the agent. The agent is signed in and ready to use.

You'll know it worked when: The ControlOne Agent window shows you as signed in (e.g., no sign-in prompt, or an authenticated state), and you can use Unity from the agent without being asked to sign in again.

Additional Information

  • Roles and zones: You must have the appropriate roles in ControlOne that allow agent access, and your account must be mapped to a zone. If you cannot sign in or the agent does not connect, ask your ControlOne administrator to verify your role and zone mapping.
  • 2FA (TOTP): ControlOne uses TOTP for two-factor authentication. Use an authenticator application (e.g., Google Authenticator, Microsoft Authenticator, Authy) to generate codes. Have the app ready before you start sign-in.
