Configuring the Phone to Work with Cytracom

Grandstream phones not purchased through Cytracom need to be provisioned to Cytracom's system before they are ready to use. This is relatively simple!

  • Make sure the MAC address of the phone is in the system. See Devices if it needs to be added.
  • Log into the local IP address of the phone using a web browser on the same network as the phone. The default login name and password are both admin.
  • Click on Maintenance, then Upgrade & Provisioning.
  • Set Upgrade Via to HTTP.
  • Config Server Path should be tftp.cytracom.net.
  • Firmware Server Path should be fw.cytracom.com.
  • Click Save and Apply at the bottom of the page.
  • Click Reboot at the top right of the screen, then Confirm to reboot the phone.

The phone will reboot twice to apply the configuration file from the system, and then it will boot to the main screen with the username on the top left. If the background for the username is green, the phone is ready to go. If it is red, that means the phone got the configuration file but is unable to register.

Open the extension to provision the phone as in Cytracom's portal, and then click on SIP Config under Routing & Configuration.

  1. Take note of the SIP username and password, or just keep that tab open to copy and paste.
  2. Log into the local IP address of the phone using a web browser on the same network as the phone. The default login name and password are both admin.
  3. Click on Accounts. This will take you to General Settings under Account 1.
  4. Enter the Account Name, generally the name of the person who will use the phone.
  5. The SIP Server should be register.cytracom.net
  6. Enter the SIP User ID from the extension page. This should also be entered as the Authenticate ID.
  7. Enter the SIP password for the extension.
  8. Copy the user's name from the Account Name field into the Name field as well.
  9. Voice Mail UserID will be *(ext). For example, if the extension is 101, just enter *101.
  10. Click Save & Apply.
  11. Navigate to Accounts > Account 1 > Network settings.
  12. Select Keep-Alive from the drop-down menu for NAT Traversal.
  13. Click Save & Apply.

This will register the phone, and generally does not require a reboot.
